Tree of Life
Your branches are the ladders
For the little ones,
Your branches are the swings
For the little ones,
They know no fear.
Tree of Life
Through every season
Little ones know your name.
Through every season
Little ones rest upon your back
And feel the safety of your breast.
Tree of Life
Every year you grow taller
Little ones growing with you,
Every year you change
As little ones change with you
And return to rest upon your roots.
Tree of Life
You remind me
To be a little one
You invite me
To be a little one
And surrender my fears again.
This piece is intended to be a gentle reminder of our child-like innocence. As we grow into adulthood we tend to take on so many worldly burdens, distractions and barriers that we can easily lose touch with our God given innocence and purity of heart. When this happens we become affected by many forms of fear. The Little Ones is an invitation to remember the purest gifts in our lives. A divine thread is always within and around us and enables us to reclaim the fearless, wise and appreciative spirit of the child. In so doing, we are filled again with wonder, courage, love, and a profound recognition that we need not be fearful. We are never alone.
