Aries Maple, a miniature of the Japanese Maple Tree will be included in the 23rd Annual Miniature Exhibition at Seaside Art Gallery, Nag Head, NC The exhibit opens April 23rd. The title of this piece combines the attribute of always longing to “go first” of the Aries zodiac sign with the similar habit of the beloved maple trees always trying to be “first” to bud out after their winter slumber. Nine small keys (nosies; helicopters; seed pods) are sculpted into the roots of the three maple trees.

Uniquely Beautiful Cremation Urns
Above, Marriage of Spirit, is just one of any number of the bronze vessels within the Tree of Life Series and Nature Vessel series that can easily become an eloquently beautiful urn for the ashes of a beloved one. My collector base has indicated this to me, as we have sold numerous vessels over the years for this purpose alone. The bronze material is indeed as close to infinity as one might hope to attain on earth….and its patina softens with years of time. While the openings on the vessels require a small container to hold the ashes securely inside, the light which flows through the vessel as well creates a dramatically open essence – symbolic of the utter peacefulness and vast open, freeing spirit of life beyond our earthly one. Rather than completely containing within an enclosed vessel or urn, with these vessels the Light continues to envelope – embrace – and spill upon the ashes. The vessels are available in a wide variety of sizes and shapes….each one symbolic of one of the many tender, wise and infinite messages of nature – our soulful Teacher.
Wintry Season
Most of us, here in the USA, are now enjoying the winter season. While the trees stand barren it appears as though little is happening – stark, graying landscapes easily induce a wintry sleepiness in us. Yet, while we slumber in this quiet season so much is happening beneath the surface of what our eyes might see. ALL the landscape is being perfectly fed as it rests in dormancy. We too need a resting time in our seasons, and winter calls us to SLOW DOWN and slumber deeply, allowing the inner world to more deeply find us once more.
During those long quiet nights the crocus corms are being nourished for their ripe, bright promise of spring to come. During those long quiet nights, not unlike the evening primrose, a wealth of blooming is happening beneath the scope of our vision.
May you trust the nourishing gifts of this quiet season…..bundle up and nestle down….rest deeply in the quiet knowing that indeed this winter season is as potent as all others. This is the season of invisible miracles taking root…..the season of quiet, invisible blooming. This is the season to once more, follow natures map and trust its perfect flow of the rhythms of growth…of rest….of nourishment….of sheer, blooming perfection.
Celestial Joy Earns AWARD in American Women Artist Master/Signature 2017 Exhibition
The 2017 exhibition, held at the Tucson Desert Art Museum, included 145 works of art created by women artists from the USA and Canada. Celestial Joy earned the Marilyn Newmark Foundation Award for Best Sculpture Done in an Academic Manner. We are are honored to receive this recognition and support the American Women Artists growing organization. Less than 5% of the artwork hanging in museums across the USA include work created by female artists….we hope to balance that historical reality.
